"Brownstones to Red Dirt" postcard

Brownstones to Red Dirt is a documentary about a group of children in Brooklyn and orphans in Sierra Leone in west Africa found one another through a pen pal program, that not only shapes their lives, but shows they can count on each other.

i was invited to paint a postcard for the art auction in a fundraising effort to build a school for the orphans in Sierra Leone. here are some other feature artists' postcards.

I enlarged this piece and it is truly lovely. This is very nice landscaping. I really like the large tree as a focal point at the front of the canvas or postcard. The grouping is nice and leads the eye inward. The use of a lighter green pallet towards the background enhances the rugged and earthy feel. I have been in the deep woods many times and never cease to be amazed by the azure sky kissing the tops of Douglass firs and blackjack pines. Trout streams rush towards rivers glistening silver light and sunny stars. My river pole is strung with clear 20 lb test and my worm does a jig under the water. I wade out on mossy slippery rocks and look up to see a panorama much like your amazing painting . This is when life is the finest and we commune with nature. It’s ashamed the children of Sierra Leone will never experience these great joys. Best of luck with your charity work.
